Hey guys!!
I am looking for any advice on where and how to find blue cats this time of year on joe pool lake! I have only been on the lake once but I live close and would love to catch blue cats. I have only ever caught one and would love to catch some fish upwards of 5 lbs and maybe if I am lucky a few bigguns!! Any help would be great!
Thanks.

Find timber in about 6-20 fow. That's what I'd try first. Not sure what bait they like there, so try some different ones.

You would be better to run down to bardwell which isn't far from joe pool to find blues. Joe pool wasn't stocked and it hardly has any in it. You would be wasting your time targeting them.

The funny thing is if you at the TP&WD stocking reports for lakes like Grapevine and Lewisville you don't see any blue catfish stockings, but I think the COE stocked these lakes region when they were impounded. If you look at Google Earth you can see most of these lakes have hatchery ponds behind their dams. At Lewisville you can even see the ponds for the old lake on sonar behind the old dam.

Few blues in JP. If you do go the only place I have caught them consistently is the first 1/4 mile into the creeks. Walnut and mountain creeks. Live or dead shad.
