Anyone have any info on the crappie situation at this powerplant lake in central Texas? Thanks!

Fairfield has had a bad fish kill every year including last September for several years running. As a result the once great panfish fishery, including crappie, has declined. The lake is now known for tilapia and catfish. I suggest you pick another lake for crappie.

The lake at its peak was famous for its huge Bluegill and Redfish. Because of the fish kills TPWD has suspended all stocking. The Redfish are gone. The Bluegill were coming back but the effect of the latest kill is unknown.
