My wife and I came home from going out to lunch Tuesday to find out housekeeper standing on the curb in tears. She had come to open the house to clean it and found two doors wide open and a third hanging from its hinges.
The burglars had ransacked the master bedroom and stolen my wife's keepsakes. They did not get my wife's jewelry or my fishing tackle or other valuables in the rest of the house, leading the police to think the housekeeper scared them off. The worst loss is the back door, which was kicked to splinters.
The only fishing item they got was a Hellbender lure in the keepsakes drawer. It was there because I used it to catch my personal best bass 40 years or so ago.
We live in a quiet upper middle class neighborhood mostly populated by retired folks. It is a sad commentary on what the US has become when even here is not safe.
. Seventy five years of chasing the elusive sunfish.

Thank goodness the housekeeper is OK. I don't know if there are any safe places anymore.

It's sad, Smithhaven, but I guess that's what our country has come to. I live in an upper middle class gated community with fences all around, and we still have problems like this.
Sorry for your loss, but glad you did retain the Hellbender.

Sorry for your loss. Glad the housekeeper and your Family did not get physically injured. These people don't realize the emotional scars they leave.

They tend to go to the nicer more upscale places to rob and pillage good stuff.... all my years living in the slums I never got robbed... move to Plano and suddenly I have to watch my stuff!
Sorry for the loss, glad everyone is okay though.

Sorry to hear of your break in. When you replace the doors, add this small addition http://armorconcepts.com/Door Jam Armor Add some real or fake cameras and thieves will likely pick an easier target.
John 21:3 Simon Peter saith unto them, I go a fishing. They say unto him, We also go with thee.

Sorry for your loss. Glad the housekeeper and your Family did not get physically injured. These people don't realize the emotional scars they leave. Thieves don't care about anybody but themselves. So they don't care what emotional scars they leave with their actions nor how much of your property they destroy to get to what they want to steal. And more and more, they don't care about who they kill to take what they want. For years I have heard people say that property isn't worth killing over. The end result of this type of thinking is more and more thieves each year as the theives know they will pay a very small price for their actions if they do get caught.
