I take issue with the price of electronics today and the short term support that comes with them. Hasn't been that long ago you could send your 10 yr old X16's to Lowrance and for $100 get them back in new working condition. That was true customer support. Today you can spend $3500 on a graph with a 2yr warranty and a few years after the warranty period is up the support is gone as well. IMO for what a 8-12" graph costs today you should be able to get it repaired for a reasonable fee after the warranty period. If you could count on them to last trouble free for 5-8 yrs I might feel differently but that has not been my experience to date with the 6 or so big screens I've owned. Not wanting to start a brand war but HB has long term technical support for theirs. They still include the old units in updates etc as well. +1 I was just thinking that

Just got a Gen 2 HDS-7 at a huge discount. For $560, I'll take the 2-year warranty and pay reasonable rates for support in 2017 and on.
If you're spending $2k+ on graphs, then any upgrades are probably significant enough to matter. If you're on a budget, you're not looking at these anyway.

Glad I got a 9" Garmin touch screen with si, di, gps, preloaded HD lake maps retail is 1200 seams like a lot better bang for the buck to me. Lowrance has priced their self out of my budget. More power to you guys than can throw down the money.

Mark, I'm waiting for the new model 93sv won't be shipping out till February. Have my pre order in and am counting down the days. Ready to get in and do some exploring with the si, it's going to cut down alot of my graphing with my standard sonar I have now.

Yup but with the updates the old units went to [censored] they don't hold the processing power thus the screen pics turn out like [censored] most guys I know drop there old units for new ones due to this problem
