Fishing lake athens this weekend. Any suggestions other than bring a rain suit ? Don't need to know your honey holes just some basic tips and color suggestions. I'm hearing the water is pretty clear?

Give Gregg west a call. He guides out there and is extremely helpful. Good luck. 214-557-0135

Couldn't give you better advice than talk to Greg. Top notch guy and really recommend booking a trip with him. He is very good at showing you how to use electronics and interpret what you are seeing. Plus he knows where those Athens fish live and eat.

I fished Athens for the 1st time recently and stumbled across a neat pattern away from the grass. The bite was slow around the grass for me but I found a good bite for numbers out deep. You can pm me if you need more info. It wasn't on fire but it did make my few days interesting.

Man do I love lake Athens. Just look out for the Henderson County Precinct 4 Commissioners house... his drunk of a wife will come out and threaten to shoot you for fishing around their dock.

A good start for me would be north of the 2495 bridge, some docks there in deeper water, and some on shallow points that drop off. If that don't work there is lots of grass up that way too. Then I'd map out some brush piles and fish those. And if that don't work I'd pack up and get lunch/dinner some where

Like just for now or for good? That restaurant is one of my favorite parts of the lake to be honest. It made it nice in the summer to fish in the morning take a brake from the heat and then head out and keep catching.
