Best done outside as crab does tend to stink up ones house pretty good..... Works well with Dungeoness crab too..

I use the following..

big pot of boiling water ... add 1 bag of Zatarins Cajun boil, a few table spoons to a quarter cup or so (to taste) of Chalula Hot sauce (the kind with the wooden top). This will give the water a reddish / orange tint.. (we like ours HOT)
I throw in a few of thos lil red potatoes first as they take the longest to cook (2 or 3 per person) .. 10 or 15 minutes later add a few half ears of corn (frozen works, fresh is better) ...
Potatoes and corn, much like frying fish will start to float when done.
The snow crab itself take less time to cook than the potatoes or corn (10 or 12 minutes in water at a rolling boil).

Have somebody in the house whippin up small bowls of melted butter with some garlic salt sprinkled in them ... we use individual bowls to keep from getting called out for double dippin...(you dont need no fights at yer crab boil)

Cover picnic table with copius amounts of newspaper, remove food stuffs from pot and throw all over picnic table

commence to eating spicy hot snow crab, taters and corn..

DISCLAIMER.......

be advised...... do not rub yer eyes or be excused to the RR without washing your hands _FIRST_... (c:

enjoy

Done it twice in the last week. My kids love it. I just steam it for 10-12 minutes (no longer or it gets mushy). I don't add anything to the water and just serve it with melted butter and lemon and sometimes a Greek salad. That's good eats. BTW - I make them plain because of the kids and they are great that way, but if it was just me, it would have some Old Bay in the water.

Try the site below for steamed crab. I've used it for snow, king and frozen blue crab with great results. Also, I've used different spices in each bundle of crabs. Old bay and dill work great but not in the same bundle of crabs. This is easy and quick and very tasty. You won't be disappointed and you don't have to defrost them either.
