A couple of us from the Plano store and Jonathan from the Dallas store went up Tuesday morning and fished with Rob Woodruff. We had a great time and the river is full of fish. I can't recommend Rob enough, he took us to different places and shared tons of information about the stream entomology and history about the area. We caught fish all day long, we saw two eagles and I got to break in my new X100t. It was a perfect day. Streamers, eggs, midges and BWO worked well.

Noticed y'all are using breathable waders and boots. What is your dress code for keeping warm in them? Thanks in advance.

I usally wear fleece pants and some decent socks also. As far as upperbody warmth I layer realy well so i can start to shed clothes around lunch. You will want to experiment and see what works well for you

Thanks everyone, I'm really excited how these pics turned out.
FW I didn't even know you could get out to that spot! it was kinda weird being that close all the water coming out of the Spillway.
As Far as the deer goes, i feel kinda bad for him since hes so conditioned to coming up to people for a free meal but we enjoyed the experience and didn't feed him. Rob told us last week the same buck was wading to ppl in the evening hole, lol.
Thanks again liking my pics.

Nice pics and story. Several years ago that area had a chain link fence along that ledge and they kept trout in that area. The truck would park across from it and inmates would be lined up across there and pass buckets full of fish across to fill up the truck.

I'm here to tell you, under the right circumstances deer can get very tame. I'm a pest control man, so I'm in and out of my clients homes. One of my clients raised a deer. I guess someone had found a fawn or something. That thing was so tame it was annoying. I had to constantly shoo it away. One time I was treating while the family was at home. I went in the master bedroom to find the wife curled up in bed watching TV. The deer was curled up beside her. Another time as I was leaving, the dogs were chasing my truck down their long driveway, as dogs will. I checked my mirror to make sure I wasn't about to accidently run one over. The danged deer was chasing right along with them!
Zip: Get those super-warm underwear from a place like Academy. The ones I got you could choose from warm, warmer or warmest. They only had "warmer" in my size. They're perfect at 20 degrees when I wear them over a set of traditional thermals. I guess I'd get "warmest" if I had a choice. As the other feller said, for your uppers, layer like heck.

Learned about layer years ago skiing. Also discovered silk long johns then. Very light weight, strong, and durable and you can layer them without adding much in the way of thickness and weight. My concern is how far I may have to walk in my neoprene wader with 200 thinsulate. Sweating equals very cold.
