Several IFFF Certified Casting Instructors from the Dallas, Fort Worth, and Red River clubs will be offering an Accuracy Casting Clinic in McKinney on Saturday, Dec 13, from 10:00 to 12:00.

This clinic will cover skills that will help improve casting accuracy. These skills will range from basic beginning level skills to advanced level skills. We�re planning to have something for casters of all skill levels.

The format of this clinic will be a demonstration portion followed by an open casting practice. We plan to use a series of casting stations that focus on specific accuracy related skills. As a group, we will visit each of these stations with the instructors explaining and demonstrating each task. Following the explanation portion, you will be free to visit any of the stations to practice any of the skills.

This will be a free casting clinic. So, here�s your invitation to grab your rod and to come out and cast with us next Saturday. You are welcome to bring a lawn chair for the first part of this clinic.

- Address and Directions: 4212 Shawnee Drive, McKinney, TX (Directions are listed below.)
- Restroom: Unfortunately, this park does not have a restroom. The closest restroom is the QT store on the corner of Wilmeth and 75. It is located one exit south of the Bloomdale Road exit.

Directions to Park:
- The park is located at 4212 Shawnee Drive, McKinney, TX.
- The park is located in a new subdivision on the north side of McKinney
- Going North on Hwy 75. Take the Bloomdale Road exit, exit # 42B. (This is the first exit north of the QT store on the north side of town at Wilmeth Ave.)
- At the Stop Sign turn Right (east) on Bloomdale Road. (The courthouse is located across 75 on the NW corner of this intersection.)
- The first Left (north) is Shawnee Drive, about 1/2 mile from 75. (There is an elementary school on this corner and builder's sign advertising "Homes from the $180's" on the other corner. Turn left on to this road, Shawnee and the park is located at the bottom of the hill.)

- If you will be going South on Hwy 75, I don't know which exit to take to get to Bloomdale Road. Due to road construction, it seems to move every week.

Hello Everyone, this session is headed toward becoming one of the biggest free casting clinics I've ever seen in this area. So, if you're on the fence about whether or not to attend, I encourage you to come out and join us.

We will be focusing on accuracy casting, which is the ability to present your fly to a target (which means a fish). An accurate cast is a skill that we all need when fishing.

At this point, a half dozen IFFF Certified Casting Instructors are planning to help, including one Certified Master Instructor. If we all make out Saturday, this will be the largest group of IFFF certifed instructors in one place in Texas since the Texas Council Expo last summer.

I'm excited. Come out and join us Saturday!

It was a good day for casting and it was a great day for December.

Several people from TFF were there today. It was good to meet you. Thank you for coming, I hope you had fun!

The next public casting opportunities that I am aware of on the calendar are the Red River Rendezvous on January 23 at Beaver's Bend followed by Fly Fish Texas on March 14 in Athens.
