I'm going to drive down to Bossier City for a few days and I've never been there. I would like to read some pointers on the best places to stay, eat, and the most enjoyable casinos. I personally like to play Poker, what casinos have poker rooms? And of coarse my wife loves those @!^%* slot machines, so some input on Slot play would be nice to. Thankyou, steve

I can't address the casinos but Bass Pro Shop is on the Boardwalk next to the Red River. It is not as large as the one in Grapevine, but it is still BPS and worth a visit.

Ralph & Kacoos - Bossier City The link above will show you a map so that you can find your way to the wonderful yummieness that is Ralph & Kacoos. I will sojourn from Tyler via I-20 to The Bossier City BPS, and from there to the Nirvina that is Ralph & Kacoos. TFP

Horsehoe is the "plushest", and it's very convenient to Bass Pro and the Boardwalk (lots of shops, restaurants, kind of a junior riverwalk or west end kind of thing).
Ralph & Kacoo's is very good, but I can eat as well as I like and never leave the Horseshoe. Binion's Steak House is top notch, and there's an Asian restaurant (Four Winds) that is excellent (not some chinese buffet, but really nice dishes prepared to order).
I can take or leave the casino itself - Feed me, let me walk to Bass Pro, feed me again and put me to bed...I'm happy.
That's where the wife & I are headed for our anniversary next month...

My wife and I went to Shreveport-Bossier City last July and we stayed at the Horseshoe. The rate was $70 per night. We're planning to go again next month, and since we liked the Horseshoe, I called for a reservation. You ready for this? The rate they quoted me was $315 per night!! I said "thanks, but no thanks." I called Sam's Town (which is just across the river from the Horseshoe) and reserved a room for $76 per night.

Horseshoe in the nicest as far as rooms go. Eldorado would be my second choice.
For poker, horseshoe will be more crowded and give more high stakes action. Eldorado usually has a seat open with lower limits.
For seafood, R&K's like mentioned is good and Brother's under the Texas Street Bridge on the Shreveport offers soul food seafood. Another good stop for awesome drinks and mexican food is Superior Bar & Grill.

ss123, Email me, I'll let you know the best places and things to do. That also goes for ANY TFF'ers. TFP hit on the Second best place in this area to get the good Cajun quisine. Their blackened gator is excellent. (Everytime I'm in Texas, it's Pappaseida's in Longview!) Superior Bar & Grill is about the best we can do here for TexMex. My cousion plays in the band there sometimes. www.thecaravanband.com He's the beatnick in the middle. You'll have a good time on this side of the Border too.

Barnhills for BUFFET! Its great, just off Mansfield Road at the South Loop. Go there 1st, and you wont regret it. Excellent cajun gumbo, red beans and rice also fried chicken and dont forget to try the peanut butter pie! YUMMY! Shreveport is a "criminal town" so be careful. I watch their NEWS, from our lake place, and its bad all the time!

The rate issue at Horsehoe is probably about what night of the week it is, what events are going on, stuff like that. Our trip will be in mid-July and we're paying $80 for a Sunday night stay...
I neglected to mention that from Horsehoe, Sam's Town and El Dorado casinos (used to be Harrah's and Hollywood) are both within walking distance (for most folks).

agrantham, the nights that they quoted the $315 for were Wed and Thurs nights, July 5 & 6. As mentioned, Sam's Town gave me a room for $76 for the same two nights. I guess it varies and it pays to shop around. Last year when we stayed at the Horseshoe for $70 per night, Sam's Town was quoting a rate of $149 per night.

Demand dictates price....lots of people on vacation that week. They wouldn't charge it if somebody wouldn't pay it. They don't make money with a empty hotel. Now I'm not saying it's right. Just a fact. Horseshoe is the nicest in S/BC

Zebco33 know the best place....Superior Bar and Grill!! I'll goto Shreveport just to eat queso and drink margaritas! Then I make my decision on what is next! I went twice last week...
