Internal built in antenna of the Elite 7 pings one time every second. Point-1 pings 10 times every second

Even though the Point 1 refreshes at 10 times a second the Elite 7 cannot process all of the data like a HDS unit. Will the maps refresh faster than with the built in GPS? Most likely. But to get the full advantage of the Point 1 you need a HDS

I bought one of these yesterday at bass pro. The guy at the counter said that since I was going to run it straight to my to my hds 10, I wouldn't need the nmea starter kit. He said it would power itself through the chord and nothing else would be required. Does anybody have any experience with this?

You will need a nmea starter kit as that's how it hooks up to LSS and it's what supplies the point 1 with 12 volts needed to operate and needs to be switched to cut off point 1 when not on the water.
Another thing for people wanting to put point 1 antennas on elite units I found out is that if you put a point 1 on a elite unit, it will screw with the performance of the unit by making it lock up and stammer.
Point 1 on elite units do not work...

The "Point 1" is a nmea 2000 device therefore it needs a nmea starter kit to operate. If you choose to hook up more units (up to 3 per LSS) it will work on all three but you will need to pic up extra T's to do so. A starter kits comes with just enough t's to hook up 1 hds.

The other day I decided to turn off the "point 1" and run it on the internal antenna witch I have never done because when I put HDS units on boat new, I put the "point 1" at same time. The internal antenna doesn't perform anywhere as good (not even close) as the "point 1" The best thing you can do to HDS units.
