Just read some news releases from NOAA/ Gulf Council about their meeting in November. If I understood the news releases correctly, the recreational limit on red snapper will be 2 per person when the season opens April 21st, and amberjack will be 2 per BOAT!!

Has anyone else read about this? Am I overlooking something, or misreading it?

I can't imagine this being worthwhile to go on partyboats anymore ...

With the changes they have already made on sharks, and the proposals on the Red Snapper limits, I don't seehow the party boat fleet will be able to stay in business.

I checked out the link you posted and only saw AJ's mentioned, but no mention in those papers about the 2 per boat limit. The did however mention the grey triggerfish and the vermillion snapper and studies they are doing on those species.

Sorry, the AJ limits were referenced in another news release, and now I don't know where I found it. I know that beeliners got knocked down from 20 to 10 per person, and there's supposed to be a closed season on pretty much all groupers from Feb 15 to Mar 15.

I'll see if I can locate the links to post here.
