I have been changing my own oil for years and usually just use the old cheapy Fram from Wally World but I have heard they are not the best quality. I guess the old saying you get what you pay for but what filters do y'all use for the DIY oil changes on your vehicles. I'm sure those high dollar filters are great but I'm not looking to break the bank for a brand.

I use OEM's on both Toyota and Ford. I order the Toyota ones on Ebay and buy motorcraft at Wally World when I get my oil. Check the truck forums there are some good links to articles on filters. Toyota guys seem to like the Wix too.

I use Wix on my F150. They are like $6 at O'Reillys.

For conventional oil and 5k or less miles between changes, Fram is fine. For synthetic and changes above 5k miles, I use Purolator gold filters. $6 or so on amazon.com.

Fram is a quality filter. Quality oil, and frequent changes prolong engine life. Also making sure you don't run low, even a quart. It is better to always be full.

Oil filters and car batteries. There are only 3 or 4 actual manufacturers, then whoever just puts their labels on them. Our local Wal-Marts sell Purolators as their 'budget' brand and their good filters.

see if wix makes a fleet filter for your engine, dbls the length of a change if you want to, ran those in chevy 350 (in heavily built 76 chevy 3/4 ton pu 4x4) and got 5-6000 miles between changes easy.

I run Wix, Purolator, or Napa Gold. Will settle for a K&N filter if I have to.

I swore off the Fram a long time ago when they went to the cheap construction. At one time they built a quality filter, not so much any more.
