Has anyone had their barbs checked on the LMF?
I've had my license checked several times (if you're not fishing legal, don't fish near me, I'm magnet for those guys), but I've never had anyone look at my flies.

Generally bending is OK. If they see an attempt to smash the barb, they will let it slide. They may ask you to smash a little better.
RED Zone - No bait, no attractants, no scents, no barbs. Red Zone goes from Lost Creek Diversion bridge all the way to the Evening Hole Bridge. Little LOst Creek is Red as well.
Woodruff updates a few of the sections. It will be flowing at 100CFS, mostly clear, and likely about 50-58 degrees. That report will likely stay on 'Excellent' from now till Spring Break at least. Ignore the flies posted there and read this blog. Must haves are small midges, caddis, and eggs.
Have fun Any truth to the rumor that green wooly bugger and near deer's are also good here?

I often use an egg pattern with a midge trailer, or caddis with a midge trailer, getting hits on everything. The default rule is to pound the bottom. My favorite thing to do is fish a soft hackle like a caddis imitation or mayfly. It only really works for me though when the fish are rising to a hatch.

Nope. Never been checked for anything. And I fish Friday - Sunday..

Green Jeans checked me for the first time in 10 years. Hold up license and he read it with Swarovski's from mid-stream.. The Creek was full of people this weekend and the fishing didn't disappoint except for the small 12 - 14" size range. D

DC - That is the new expected stocker size. 8-10 ounces per fish. At least they are back to bi-weekly.
Miserable forecast this weekend - hope it sticks. I will be up there Sunday.

We may just have to stay on the bank a lot because it maybe to warm for our neoprene waders. Did I read somewhere that they put some gravel on the starting point of evening hole path? It would be great if the girls could walk up there us

EH Bridge all the way to the island is a rock covered pathway. Left side looking upstream. Still some weeds and a little mud, but easy walking.
If I am there, Magick will be, too.

I love the Pink or Olive Neer Deers, if the bite is pretty good I will just use the Neer Deers but if it slow I will drag a micro egg or something around a 18 - 22 size. These Pink ones are from Carey AKA Tarponfly and the Olive are from Gene AKA pearow

Question -
Would LMF be good without the Brooders they keep putting in(that along with the one mistake the hatchery made sending a truck full of breeder fish)? Personally I think the Foundation is the one reason things are on the up and up. Without them it would be like fishing at the city park. Thoughts?

The LMFRF is the organization that puts the broodstock in. The fishery is much better as a whole with the wild fish and the return to a 2 week stock schedule. The brooders are a great bonus. I love going for 2 days and catching 100 fish one day and then searching for big fish the next.

First trip is in the bag. So I thought I would report in. The direction and suggestions Y'all provided were spot on. Went to the bridge that divides Spillway Creek between the blue and red zones. Fished the blue zone up from the bridge. Beautiful area easy walking etc. The guys I talked to early on were not catching and therefore had no real input for me so I tried mixing and matching neer dears , wooley buggers with and without football strike indicators to no avail. Later on some guy who was not fishing came by and suggested I use BWO's, of which I had none. Afternoon, the hatch was on. I thought I was standing in a school of sandbass. They would not take anything except the BWO. The guys up and downstream from me did well. I did catch one Rainbow about 10" so at least I was not skunked. I'll be back.

Beavers Bend Fly Shop is close by and saves me on days like that. Very helpful folks and takes minutes to get in and out from fishing spot.
