Looking at getting a new reel. I'm wanting something light and high quality. Was looking at a Daiwa lexa. Any other reels I should look at? Shimano something or another?! Lol

Shimano Core
Not cheap, but extra light and quality.

If we are talking crappie jigs. I bought a Pflueger President 6920 reel that is really smooth.
I rigged it with 20lb braid & it will cast a 1/16th oz. jig as good as any reel I've ever used.

Propulsion Line Management System on all Shimano spinning reels made within the past 3 years. I like fishing and NOT fooling with gear, ie. loops, line twist, etc. NO spinning reels are 100% immune from this stuff but if when you cast you close your bail arm manually, do not crank when a fish is pulling out line, line twist, loops, etc. can become almost non existent with these reels. It's not some marketing gimmick that someone else was asking about on another forum. I've got a bunch of these reels and have caught thousands of a variety of fish in different kinds of conditions. Snow, sleet, rain, heat, wind, salt water, fresh water, etc. I've tried a variety of other spinning reels also. Hope this helps.

Shimano Sustain. There is a big jump in quality and performance moving up to that reel. That hung off the bottom of a Dobyns Champion Extreme will ruin you though, as well as your checking account.

I would have to agree with ketchn. Recently bought an okuma from olsens pro am in ft worth and so far it's the best ultralight spinning reel I've used. Compact, very light and smooth as silk.

That sustain is a tad bit more than I want to spend! Looks very nice though.

I have 2 okumas now. I was wanting to try something different if there's something better.
