Hi,
My bonehead braid kept breaking recently, the spool is only few months old and for the past couple weeks the line kept breaking while setting the hook or while fighting with the fish (maybe 5-6 lb cat), I never had this problem before with bonehead, anyone else having similar problem?

Is your drag set right? Maybe back it off some.

Check your rod guides by running a q-tip in them. If they are good it may be your knot. If not, change brands of line and see if it still happens.

Hey Steve a guy that works for me was having the same problem the other day. We where fishing Palestine and few time he set the hook other would break. The problem we found was the tip insert was cracked and cutting the line. But if you find out it's not the guides let me know. We will send you another spool. Could be some line that went through the machine wrong and got some micro cuts in it. Thanks Josh

If you used it during the freeze we had, it will snap easily. Braid does does not handle cold weather well. Braid is a warm weather line. Mono in the winter would prevent you from having any other issues. I was breaking 65lb power pro while casting because it was below freezing out.

I bet it's a rod guide. Maybe a guide insert is missing.

I checked the guide and they are all fine. I never had this issue before with Bonehead lines, I have had their lines on 4-5 different reels and never seen this issue before. The breakage is all over the place, some are at the knot, some are in between. Also, I tried to set the hook with 1 splitshot weight and it just broke so I know it is not because of too heavy weight. At the end, I am still trusting Bonehead line, I will probably ended up buying another spool.

I use Bonehead brain exclusively and never have any problems. Probably just a bad spool. Happens with all brands from time to time. Get you a spool of 20# Orange and never look back.

I have fished that stuff with several ceramics missing on one rod last summer and the same with just the tip ceramic missing on another rod last spring the only thing I ever got close to breaking was the rods a few times and broke a few hooks as well I have broken 2 Academy whatevers with that braid as well it sure don't like below freezing cold temps though ... that's the one time I had heck with it btw ....the easiest way to notice a ceramic missing with braid it gives a very distinctive mini sawing noise when you set the hook KABOOM

Never used bonehead braids, but I have had problems cutting line with missing ceramic inserts. I use micro-guide rods though. Seems that missing an insert in a micro guide rod like a duckett will destroy line easier than a standard guide rod. Probably because they are a lot smaller guides and more of them/less forgiving on the line. I noticed it shaving my fluorocarbon like a cheese knife when missing a few inserts.

I've used the line for almost 2 yrs now. The only problem I had was Zebra Mussels! those suckers are as sharp as razor blades.

I have to say big thanks to Bonehead, not only they sent me a new spool without a question but they also sent me some jigs and heads, I can't believe how exceptional they take care of their customer. I will be their customer as long as I am a fisherman. Thanks again, Bonehead Tackle.

I currently don't use any bonehead products as I is still waiting on the orange, 25 pound mono! I ain't a braid guy...just really dislike the stuff! So the rest of this post is definitely unsolicited. BUT, I sure do like to see reports of fantastic customer service from vendors. Customer Service today is mostly punchin a button on a phone to eventually talk to someone in Pakistan who can barely speak English!!! It is comfortin to see companies like Bonehead, ProAngler, Tex's rods, Shut up & fish and others that have excellent reports of customer service. Tis refreshing to say the least!
