i seen that they have a new reel on sale for black friday at academy. Has any one have any used it yet. It looks like the mettle but with mag brakes. and a ratio of 7.1

I think you would be better off with a Bass Pro Qualifier. You cant get them really cheap and its a great reel.

they aren't going to have the mettle on sale this year. they replace it with the maxim.

Yeah it also seems to have a carbon body over aluminum of the mettle. That's what I interpreted from the specs anyway. I was wondering if it was going to be any good/just as good as well. I wouldn't mind another baitcast reel if its like the mettle.

I bought their 80$ spinning reel for 50$ on their pre Black Friday sale probably won't use it till spring but I needed a second spinning reel and it seemed solid for 50$

I bought a few and casted out back a few times. I think the Mettle was a better reel.
