What is the difference between the Lowrance Elite 7x HDI w/ 50/200 455/800 and Lowrance Elite 7x HDI w/ 83/200 455/800?

I understand that is Sonar Only what is the difference between the transducers
83/200 455/800 VS 50/200 455/800?

The 50 will go deeper, lower frequencies have better penetration through the water, and will give a wider cone of coverage, but with less resolution. The 50 is usually more expensive. You probably don't need that unless you're in 200+ foot deep water.

50/200 is primarily used in deep water or salt water applications. For lakes and rivers, I'd go with the 83/200

My advice is choose another unit all together. The processor speed on the elite 7's is not up to the task of running the gps with a map card installed. You'll run off the screen unless zoomed way out. It works OK idling, but anything over about 5mph and it's useless as a gps unit. Other features work fine.


If you're not living on the edge, you're taking up too much space!

I believe the 7x is a sonar only model, therefore no worry about processor speed ad GPS. It is a good unit for DI. But as stated, if you are wanting one with GPS, the processor in the Elite 7 is slow. I have one on the bow, but would not put one at the console
