I have caught them from 6" to 60' in SoCal. They will go as deep as their diet goes. In the fall at Castaic once the water reaches 60* you might want an 8" Huddleston swim bait tied on.

Caught em some in 32ft today and caught some in 3 ft today

So there never shallow in the colder months ? There are shallow fish year round. We were catching jig fish in less than 4' of water in sub 40 degree water at Fork last year. Have caught tons of fish shallow in cold water. Some fish just stay shallow no matter the lake.

I really dont know much about how the weather affect bass. Need to learn about that
