If it's a windy day and you use it a lot, it's probably gonna be slowing down after half a day.
You have to take care of those batteries...recharge 'em soon as you get off the water, and every couple weeks whether you use it or not. Or get a smart charger with a maintainer feature. Any time it's at less than 100% state of charge, it's wearing out. Also make sure it's got enough water to cover the plates, use only distilled never tap water.
Keep the connections tight and corrosion-free, at the battery and at the recepticle and plug.
Is the maxx 29 a deepcycle battery? A cranking battery won't last long using it for the trolling motor.

you said "Both my everstart maxx 29 batteries are shot".do you have them in series or just one for the trolling motor and one as starter?? If series, I would think,if they are in good shape, you'd get most of the day or longer out of them.. of course as jtexas says, they need to be deepcycle..

They are both deep cyc.I changed the start battery out,no more deepcycle to start. Just purchased the boat and one battery was used for a start, the other for the tm.I use the tm a lot.Should I buy two new batteries and try they in series? This will give me longer run time and better battery life.Is this correct?

You said your trolling motor is 12 volt? If it is 12 volt and you use 2 batteries they need to be wired parallel, not series, series would give you 24 volt and fry the trolling motor. 2 batteries in parallel would give you longer run time. Better battery life is determined by quality of the battery and how well you maintain the battery.

Get the Walmart Bats. Keep the reciepts in pocket on side of bat. Take a sharpie and put the date of purchase on top of the battery so you can see it often. Put a reminder on your calendar at 11 months from purchase date. Take bats back to Wally World after that date and before 1 year. Get new bats for free. Repeat on annual basis and never buy another battery. PS. I have never had them take the time to actually test the battery...they just exchange it. Also, never take two bats to a wally for exchange at one time. One at a time or two diff wallies.
