Was kicking around the idea of trying Martin lake for the first time in the am. Any hazards I need to be aware of? Haven't seen any recent reports lately. If anybody has one I would greatly appreciate it. I have always went to welsh or monti just thinking of trying something new. Thanks in advance.

Great lake. Dangerous if you don't know it. You will need to hug the dam until you get to the east side. Run that east side until you get under the bridge. There is a sandbar to the left so go straight for about 100 yards then cut back in a little to the east. You should then see a main lake point up the lake. You can't mistake it, it sticks out way farther than all the others. Align your boat with that point. Once you get to it make a hard right and go straight across to the hot water cut. After that I wouldn't un any farther. I would send you a pic of my graph trail where I had run it but we don't keep our boat at the house. So with that said if your not comfortable idle, and take the whole lake slow. There should be plenty of boats out there with this cold weather, I bet one of them would be happy to let you follow them if you ask. Met some people out there last year that were real helpful.

As for the fishing. I can't give a report, I haven't been since last winter, but if this cold shuts down normal lakes I will be on Martin around Thanksgiving.

Good luck!
