Is there a way or cord that I can power up this unit in the house? also while in DEMO mode when you change settings do they stick? Thanks

Sure is, get power cord and 12v dc power supply, I do my HDS8's all the time, look on ebay for cord, use fuse inline.

Yes any changes made in demo mode will stay.
