I recommend giving this a shot. I did it a couple winters back and it really gave my December/January trips real purpose. I definitely learned how to fish jignpork and jerkbaits real slow that year. Those guys fishing ladybird at night in January were absolutely KILLING it. You learn that that is definitely their big fish time of year... The 20 degree water temp differential during this time makes a big difference ;-) but if a NorTex guy was to win this thing it would be HUGE because of that! Sure, we won't see the 55-62 degree temps those guys are fishing until March long after this is over, but hey it's worth it because the Austin guys are so great and you learn so much in the process. A few trips to Monty and the Brazos for some 20 inchers and some patience and VERY warm gear at Fork for 1-2 giants and it definitely could be pulled off... Even if you get your azz handed to you like I did, if you fish this hard, you're THE definition of hardcore....;-)

Thanks for the endorsement!! The bird gets cold just like y'all have up there. Some giants can be caught when the water hits the mid 40s
