I remember my father this Veterans Day too. He served in the US Navy during WWII, aboard a Destroyer Escort somewhere, many places in the Pacific. I served during Viet Nam but, my service was not like these young men's service. The entire world at war! He would not speak of it, ever. I asked many times before his very early death at age 47 in 1972. He would simply acknowledge he was in the Navy and was proud of his service. I wonder to this day, how it is, a 2nd class Petty Officer aboard a Navy ship were to end up with a Japanese officers pistol, case and Japanese flag but, I was to never find out. Like your beloved family members loss, many of us grieve. So many young men, off to God knows where and doing God knows what in defense of our freedoms and country. Like the above poster, I ask that you remember these young men and all they gave to defend us.....so very long ago. I was lucky, he came home. He raised me and provided a good life for my mother and myself in those few years he had left. He like so many, was a good man.....I think of him daily and am very proud of him and so many others who came before us....standing up for what is good and right in the world and life! God Bless the USA!!

For someone I've never met he influenced my life greatly. I know of him only through the stories my mom tells and the letters, photographs and telegrams. The old Martin guitar is a treasure and reminds us all of our lost uncle Rozelle...

Here is another movie with my Uncle Roz in it.. he appears @ 20:54 and is the same shot of him in the other movies. The B26 Story has many of the segments filmed from my uncles plane as that B26 was the plane that carried the official photographer for the bomber group. When his plane went down there were no survivors and the French people found and buried the Airmen in the Abby cemetery. His remains were moved from that first resting place in France back to Ohio sometime after the war ended.
