So, this past sunday game wardens were out at Seawolf park checking coolers. The nice lady at the entrance said they would be there around noonish. She also said it was a $500 fine per fish over and that the day before someone had 12 flounder in their cooler! OUCH!!

*Question: My son is 12yrs old and knows how to fish but he does not hold a fishing license nor is required to have one. Is he still allowed to take home 2 fish (flounder) as the law states?

Thanks!

I don't know if this is the same thing but when my dad and I would go out on the big red snapper party boats, they would let me keep 5 red snapper like my dad. (This was in the 90's)

A GW told me once when I had the grandkids that kids are allowed a limit as long as they caught them, and they will ask who caught those fish.

The kids do not need a licence but must follow all bag and possession rules.

Is a fishing license required for youth?

Resident and non-resident youth under the age of 17 do not need a fishing license.

However, if they wish to retain a red drum over the maximum length, they can purchase an Exempt Angler Tag for $3.
