This does make some sense, especially when fishing alone, but anyone else have any tips? boat control I am fishing Ray Roberts and in the timber. I do not have talons or power poles and a drift sock is not easily deployable in grass and timber. I have a 20 foot fiberglass boat. Thanks for your ideas!

Just grab one of your dock tie up ropes and throw it around a stump when you get in a good area. Works like a champ. Allows you to fish a good area and not blow into stumps and branches.

how deep is the water? Dig-In anchor is a hell of a lot cheaper than powerpole/talon but won't anchor you in over 8ft or so at best, but most shallow water anchor systems aren't much different save for a few inches of extra holding power

Fish into the wind. Make shorter casts.

This is my power pole solution.....I would have PP's if they would fit into garage, but they won't.

The I=Pilot is much cheaper than power poles and has numerous other functions that make it well worth the money. There is a Motor Guide version as well if your are a MG person. But they will certainly solve wind problems, shallow and deep water.

Most of the time I troll into the wind so that it allows you to slow down and fish areas thoroughly.
If the wind is blowing extremely hard, I will fish backwards. I still point my bow into the wind and let it blow me down the shoreline, but I can bump the trolling motor forward to slow down. I find it works great and gives you a balance of controlling your boat and speed, but not on the trolling motor the entire time.
I will also engage the spot lock function on the trolling motor and fancast much like you will from the shore. Move up 50 yards or so and repeat. Sure lets you focus more on your casts, presentation and bites rather than fighting trolling motor all day.

The 'chop' on the water from wind is supposed to present some of the best opportunities. Well, sure is going to be great fishing conditions for the next three days !! A real test on skills of handling your rig in rough water and the wind Ya'll just be careful......would like to see what ya'll caught during this ..........
