Going to do some winter fishing in East Texas this winter. Water depth on the pylons is 24-26. How deep should I fish?

I always let the crappie tell me how deep. I'll start 6-8 ft and lower it a ft or two at a time until I find a depth they want to eat at.

I always find them 8-10 ft around bridge pilings. They move up and down with the sun and usually hide on the shaded side. If they don't hit right away try raising or lowering your bait/jig to find the depth they are at.

that's a great question
electronics could give up the depth they are congregating in
but if all else fails on a cold water winter bite
start a foot off the bottom
and hold it DEAD still thumb
