Very well put last fish was the only one really ripe and I was no where near any Redds as I fish this area every year. On the Redds or not you catch a brown right now it is probably on its way to spawn as these were. in talking with the shops and guides there is no reproduction close to the area I am in. Although I did quickly release the last one a soon as I saw the eggs. Yes further up a mile from where I fish you see the light patches and indent ions with the fish on them and the rainbows behind eating as many eggs as they can. Just incase though I have my lights and camera set up on remote next to me on te bank land quick pic release. Saw a guy keep a 19 in brown in hand and take pics for five min I'm sure that fish did not make it.

Sad thing is the last day I was there I actually fished a little bit during the day I passed where the Redds are and most of the Redds that I saw that were cleared out were 10 feet from the shore high and dry because they were made with four units running. But no worries not raining on any parade here I am actually an educated sportsman thanks though.

in the pic of the first fish you will notice Robert mistakes the new type of brown trout that produces micro eggs that are a milky white substance to add to the numbers as milt (or Semen for those that did not know what milt was)this micro roe(or eggs) helps in reproduction by adding more eggs in the second pic Robert took the fact the AREA he was in the trout spawn started several weeks later than normal and the hook jaws and fall color transformation had just started to be more pronounced in the males. But then again with the NORTH FORK of the white river(not to be confused with norfork),the taynecomo on the White river, and the White river below bull shoals it is very hard to say he was fishing anywhere near Redds. Seeing as he didn't want people all over his spots that he was fishing on. Seeing as being an educated person he will not assume anything. There are well over 100 miles of white river trout water and some sections of this man made trout stream have LITTLE TO NO natural reproduction. So if I was going to think I would think of all the possibilities before I spoke. I am not going to tilt my hand but if the thought I pulled all these hens(that's what they call the females) off Redds is out there that is an uninformed ignorant response. I wish I would have saved you some of the caviar off all those hens. I guess that is why people volunteer when they didn't get fully educated in the subject that they love. For me personally trout are terrible to eat so I guss I missed that hill billy complex. But I sure I'm good at catching them in a very ethical method. If I thought it was unethical to catch them durring spawn(not on the Redds) I wouldn't fish them mid September to mid January to make sure.

Well I'm glad you're so educated and conscientious about what you're doing. Like I said before, it is legal. So have fun! And congrats on all those great hero shots. I've added the context I found lacking in your posts. So I'm done here.

Not sure the name. My daddy used to take us kids camping below the dam. He'd hire a guide there at Gastons to take us all out in these funny looking boats. We'd catch a mess of trout and use the entrails to catch catfish up on the lake in the pontoon. We saw some really big fish up there at the state park where we camped. Our guide said them fish get big from eating them fish carcasses they throw out at the trout dock.

The White River runs through the Ozark Mtns in Northern Arkansas. I think part of it's in Southern Missouri, too. When trout fishermen refer to The White, as in the world renowned trout fishing area, I think they're mostly referring to the tailwater of Bull Shoals Dam, which is, I think, the final dam. Anyway, I fished it last year. The prime trout fishing there runs for many miles, like 30 or 50 or something. It's pretty awesome. It's a little intimidating, though, as it's kind of big water, probably best fished from a boat, with a guide if you're not real experienced at river boating/fishing.
Now. Coming into the Bull Shoals Tailwater from the side is a section of river called the Norfork. The Norfork is a totally awesome fly-fishing stream in every way. It carries plenty of trout like the BST does, but is not intimidating to the same extent because it's much smaller. I drove over to it while staying on the White and had a great time. I didn't catch quite as many because I wasn't able to stay long enough to start figuring out what to do, but did manage an about 18" rainbow and a couple of smaller ones. I drove around a bit. If anyone's interested, Charlie's, a cabin resort, is perfectly located on the Norfork. Don't know anything about the accomodations. We stayed at His Place on the White at Cotter. It's has nice trailer house cabins with really good fishing right out in front that you can wade, but only at Minimum Flow. Next door is the RV Park. I'd recommend it too if you're pulling your own "cabin". Very clean. Good fishing right out front. It was a 45 minute drive to the Norfork from there.

Also, there are a couple other less renowned tailwater sections of the White below other dams. I think they're all further upstream from Bull Shoals, and at least one may be in southern Missouri. One is called Lake Taneycomo. It's conveniently close to Branson, MO, I gather. Another, I think, is confusingly called the North Fork of the White, as opposed to the Norfork, which is completely separate. I'm planning to visit the Beaver Dam tailwater because it's right next to Eureka Springs which is a great shopping/browsing town for the women-folk. Spider-Creek Resort is perfectly located there (Don't have to drive to wade/fish.) With all these tailwaters, as you may already know, it's only safe to wade when they're not generating. Here's where you get the generation schedule: http://www.swpa.gov/generationschedules.aspxNote that for Bull Shoals Dam tailwater (BSD), the generation never goes to zero, but only to 25. That's called "Minimum Flow", and that's when you can wade fish it.

Below bull shoals trout will actually survive for a distance of 90 miles it is one of the longest trail water that I know of. The north fork of the white is a freestone stream that feeds into table rock. It Is an amazing springfed river that is in beautiful country an fishes much like streams in Colorado. Yes when mos say the white they are referring to below bull shoals. But there is a myriad of amazing tail waters and springfed trout water all through the Ozarks.
