Since white rock creek is getting on the minds of people. I would just like to say a couple of things and for some it will just go in one ear and by pass the air that is in the middle and go out the other side, but here it goes. White rock creek is a present it is hard to get shad in the winter and it helps when you can go there and find shad but this last year I saw more wasted shad then ever. People going and getting a 5 gallon bucket full of shad to go fishing. Hey if you use that much then fine but I would say most people dont even us a gallon bag of shad. My point being use white rock creek like it is a buffet. Only take what you can use. whats going to happen is the creek will run out after a couple years of waste and abuse and then we go back to throwing it in deep water or having to buy it. Nobody wants that. If you want to rant and rave then fine but it is my creek also and for that pick up the shad on the ground and throw them back. I use 2 buckets one to put the ones in I just caught in my net and then one to hold the ones I want to keep and not just throw them on the ground to lay there and die because you are too lazy. Ok I am done . Thanks for reading.

We lay a big tarp up the side of the bank and on the ground and dump the net on the tarp to pick through what we want to keep then just lift the tarp and the shad will side back into the water. Hardly ever kill any this way and it keeps from making it a muddy mess on the bank.

For the most part I see most everybody throwing the small shad back, but it is sad to see a bunch of worthless ones laying them out.

I agree SSfireman, good reminder for those of us that go and better reminder for those that are going for the first time.

Agreed. WRC is truly a blessing. I do have to ask a question though. I used to get shad there and go to Ray Hubbard, but with all the fear over Zebra mussels isn't that illegal now? You can only use bait in the lake you caught it right?

You can only use bait in the lake you caught it right? Not illegal. It is only illegal to transport WATER not bait. You can catch shad, throw them on ice and take them wherever you want. As long as you are not transporting any water with them.
