I have been looking at options for fishing next year and have thought about the Weekender series as a Co-Angler. I see nothing but positive reviews about the series and even though I have been pretty much away from tournament fishing for the last couple of years the list of anglers fishing these tournaments is definitely impressive. The one thing that caught my eye was the 3 fish limit for the co-angler side instead of the regular 5 fish limit. I have to admit it was the only semi negative thing that I saw when researching the trail and just wondered if I could get some feedback from any co-anglers who have fished these tournaments and what you thought of the 3 fish limit.
I look forward to reading comments for the next week and a half while recuperating from my hernia surgery scheduled for tomorrow morning.
Thanks

As a co angler I like the 3 fish limit. It really keeps it more competitive between co-anglers and seems to be less invasive for the boaters.

I fished it for 6 years as a co, and you better still have 9-12 lbs or more if you want a chance at a win. BTW I have seen 17 lbs take second before...

Gotta go into being a Co as a learning and experience thing, not as a full out competition or you will get frustrated early.

I like the co-angler aspect of the Weekend Series, I fish all year long in many different trails in the front of the boat and in this trail and the BASS Opens are the only one I co-Angler in, every now and then it great to go and climb in a boat and just and say "OK, Big boy take me to the fish!" This trail is deserving of all the great compliments it get's.

Thanks for your comments Fish Killer and I hear you about how to approach being a Co in this series. At 61 years old I have already spent my time period years ago when I was fishing Redman and Anglers Choice Pro Am's and realized what limitations there are while fishing as a co angler compared to when I would be fishing my Century Bass Club or other tournaments out of my own Ranger, Bass Cat or Bullet boat. I can honestly say I only had maybe one bad expierence during all of those years in the Pro Am's and the rest of the time was awesome. Nowdays if it is one of our club tournaments or if I travel with my buddy Craig and we fish these I look more forward to just the fun and fellowship than anything else. I have been fishing too long and am too stubborn about the way I like to fish even though I realize how it restricts me being more competitive in tournaments. But that doesn't keep it being any less awesome on tournament morning with the anticipation and just the feeling that tournament fishing gives you being out on the water.

The three fish limit for the CO is a positive not a negative, FLW should do the same for the CO limit. Catching 3 fish behind a good fisherman is tough enough, trying to catch five is just frustrating. When its tough fishing you will be glad for the three fish limit. Get your three fish and then try to cull, everybody your fishing against is fishing for three keepers just like you are. And the ABA is a great trail if ya want to fish a draw circuit.

Ive fished it for several years and really enjoy it. Met some great boaters and co-anglers through the trail. In my opinion, the 3 fish limit is great for co-anglers. Like mentioned before, it keeps it competitive plus takes any added pressure off of co-angler or boaters to help co's get 5. Tournament well run, and made some changes to the 2015 season that seem to be positive. If you do consider fishing it, make sure you sign up early. No more linking to guarantee your spot, it will be based on when you signed up. Feel free to send me a PM if you have any specific questions. Coach

I've been fishing these as a co-angler off and on for the last 5 years or so. Great organization with an awesome tournament director.

I prefer this trail over the BFL because the lakes are closer and I like the 3 fish limit.

Met a lot of good folks fishing these and am looking forward to next season.

Can't go wrong with the ABA weekend series. This was my first year at it. The 3 fish keeps it competitive. And without a doubt you will become a better fisherman.

Remember that the 3 fish is equal for ALL THE CO-Anglers. So it is not really a negative consideration but a positive for the Co-Angler situation. Some boaters can really get you discouraged trying to get 5 fish. 3 Fish is a reasonable expectation and easier to manage as a Co-Angler.
