Ketchn - does that buck on the other side of the fence have a drop tine? Looks like you got some nice deer wherever you hunt.

don't know that we have ever seen any drop tines in that area . I hunt near Deleon on the Sabana river and the person in charge leases and or owns about 750 to 1,000 acres contiguously . He has a very specific plan to see lots a deer . don't kill em ! roflmao
we take 3 mature bucks a year out of the area and a few doe sometimes . the ratio runs about 2 does to a buck . the neighbors ,coyotes, fences and roads kill off enough does off to keep the balance pretty good .
I saw 3 bucks that were for sure shooter quality at over 4 years old . the buck in the sunshine was maybe 3 and we always let those walk . I saw 3 or 4 in the legal but not what we harvest category that day . I saw around 35 total with a third being horned bucks of various ages ....
and don't know how many antlerless were actually button bucks .
never saw the buck on the other side of the fence ,but 3 other antlerless deer came out with her and she being the largest was watching like a hawk back in the brush . pretty sure he was there and just cautious because he aint a youngster . 3 other young bucks ran right out of there chasing another doe . and she never even glanced at them ...pretty much a no brainer he was there and just not crazy enough yet over her to get shot at ! lizard

Ketchn,

Are you retired? How do you have time to fish and/or hunt everyday. Not to mention keep us up to date on all your adventures.

Very nice buck ketchn! That just goes to show what a little management can do for the herd.

I just finished processing my 3 does. Ended up with 50 lbs of ground meat and a bunch of back strap and tender loins.
