I am trying to find the best casting braid to use on spinning tackle for braid to fluoro connections for shakey heads and a few other techniques. I have used berkely nanofil which I know is not a braid, but it is a superline. Nanofil casts a mile, but it does not have the low diameter high breaking strength of braid. Also, I tried the 20lb powerpro which was great for a trip or so until the coating started to wear off. After that the casting distance was shot. Should I just assume that 20lb is too large a diameter to get distance and I should go with 10-15? So, please let me know which line you use particularly if it has great casting characteristics.

There is no exact distance. The expectation for how far I would like to be able to cast is based on using regular line like mono or fluoro, but also the nanofil. I would not be curious about this if the braid was not casting so poorly compared to the others. I am just trying to figure out if braid just does not perform as well on spinning tackle and then I could adjust my expectations to be less than casting the other lines. As for the weight, it is generally an 1/8 to 1/4 ounce shakey head with a plastic worm like a fat robo, smallie beaver or trick worm.

I use 8# mono equivelent diameter superlines on most of my spinning gear. That is either 30# or 40# rated breaking strength depending on the brand. My light spinning rigs have 6# mono equivelent diameter superlines. The lightest shakey head I use is 1/8 oz. I fish for bass mostly in and around heavy weeds and/or timber. I get the casting distance I want for that type presentation and even wacky rigged Trick and finesse worms.
I bought some 17# Nano-fil to try and it's casting performance with spinning gear was dismal --too stiff. The only tolerable Nano-fil I have used is the small stuff that was broke in from a lot of use by a crappie guide--don't remember the rated strength, 10# or less I think. I would not recommend Nano-fil to anyone for spinning gear.
Edited: just got out one of my rigs with 40# Daiwa Saltiga and a 1/8 oz. shakey head with a Zoom finesse worm. With a normal casting effort, I cast 66 feet in my yard with about a 10 mph cross wind.

Ande, I have been using it for the last three years surfishing. I power cast over 700 ft with 30llb braid and of course using a 40 pound shock leader. Not one twist or backlash in 3 years. Changed it at the end of each year. It is inexpensive and performs beautifully, Caught Bull Reds up to 60 lbs on it. King Mackeral up to 50 lbs. It will certainly handle a the biggest bass in any Texas Lake easily.

Sufix 832, 20#
I tried the 10# and didn't like the way it handled so now even my crappie rods are spooled with 20.

WOW, so many suggestions and a plethora of braids to choose from. Well, here is another one with an added twist.
For any Braided line, you can cast farther by using a product called "BRAID AID". This is a line conditioner especially for casting braid further. Tackle warehouse has it. Watch the youtube for how to apply it to the line. Great stuff!
To add to your choice of lines, Seaguar SMACKDOWN is a new line on the market. Given the Seaguar name and my personal experience with it, you can take this one to the bank...just dont blame me if you get hung up.

This for sure! And for me I'd use the Power Pro Super Slick 30#, treated with Braid Aid often. I was out yesterday and regularly outcast the other guy in my boat with his baitcaster with a similar set up bait because of the Braid Aid. I have even used the Cabela's brand of braid and had good success with it, saving a little money per spool. Only downside to their braid is it does not hold color like Power Pro does. I'm not as picky on color hold so it doesn't bother me, so I will leave that choice to you.
