Just curious. After the massive drop in temp today, will the fish bite in a day, or will it take a few days for them to get adjusted after the very rapid water temp drop? Seems to me they would need a day or two as they would be sluggish until they are adjusted. Somewhat rare to go from near 80 to 27....Any thoughts?

shark,

they'll bite great, but you have to find them. Tomorrow winds are going to be light and variable and it won't surprise me to see some good posts of plenty of fish caught.

I don't think it will affect the bite that much. Sure the surface temps will drop from this front, but the water down 17-20 feet deep won't change much at all.

I'll be trolling them up on Saturday, and will report back on the bite wink

Depends on where you're fishing. If you're talking about Lewisville (where you usually fish), it'll help, cuase the lake turned over a couple weeks ago and this cold front will help to restabilize the stratification of the lake.

I do know they have not bit at all at the slips for probably 5 or 6 days. The cold weather looks to be here all week so the water will be brrr cold by mid week. Looks like I will have to break out my "Guy Skinner" jumpsuit...lol. I am so glad I bought one last year...it is great.

What makes you think that they quit biting?

Looked at Chucks post, and he found them in his deepest brush in 20 foot....3 or 4 was all for today at the slips. I still think the fish go to water temps as similar as what they had before when water temps plunge...and that would be deep water until the entire lake temp drops. I still think cold blooded animals do not like rapid change in temps and will go to those temps if possible...Will try again tomorrow...4th day of cold weather...I think it will be better.

Not sure about lakes, but the fish that i and a couple other fishing buddies were KILLING the week of the front took the sleet day and the day after off, and went right back to attacking jigs today! They had been about 2 ft down in 4 ft of water, and now they are 4 ft down in about 6-7 ft of water!

they are not in any lake though. they are in a creek! They have slowed down though, The guys that were catching close to 200 fish a day are now only catching about 100. But they ARE NOT crappie, they are sandies! If the cold front pushes through on Sunday, and sticks around for a bit, then the sandies will go away, and the crappie, BIG crappie, will replace them!!

Cannot reveal the location under penalty of death, and i have mentioned NO LAKES, so don't get any ideas, like someone else posted on a similar thread of mine, when i say creek, I mean creek, literally!!

BUT, if they are doing it on one creek, why wouldn't they do it in other creeks? I don't think i have an exclusive here!

Best thing that came of the front, for us here locally anyway, was not the cold, it simply did not last long enough to make an impact. The bonus was the rain!!!!!!!!!!!

Fresh water always makes a positive mark on fishing, be it in winter summer spring or fall!!! We got close to 2 inches in my neck of the woods and my creeks(notice i didn't mention lakes) really got refreshed!!!

GO FIND YOUR OWN!!!!!!!!!!

At one time you could search TTF and if you went back enough years you'd find every location under the sun. That appears to be a thing of the past now that the site has upgraded.

I got to fish for about 3 hours Saturday morning at the slip at Lewisville (before my wife called and said to come home...we were going to Cedar Creek), and caught 9 very good crappie, so the fish are there...you just have to make them bite.
