How did losing the slot work out on Roberts? I heard all kinds of stuff on here about how it was going to be a slam fest and the weights would be out of this world...... Seems like that hasn't happened.
What would be the purpose of this on Fork? Better for the fish? Better for tourney guys? As it was pointed out, hardly anyone keeps bass anymore, regardless of what lake they are on.

One might have to like tournaments to enjoy the slot change. It would be great for the local economy. That lake would be packed and stacked if they lowered the slot. And the sacks would be 25 pound sacks to win I would think. I have not been out there much the last several years. When I have been, the 22" to 23-3/4" have still been quite plentiful from my experiences. Putting 5 of those together would not be hard for a lot of teams. Still would be a niche type of tournament but I bet the draw would be there.

Yes there was a meeting. It was held at Land's end. Several of the guides on the lake attended the meeting. It was a private meeting that was organized by some guides and business owners around the lake. They wanted to discuss some issues and concerns they had with the lake and how TPWD was managing it. It was by invitation only. So if you were not directly connected to one of the organizers of the meeting, you were not invited. Someone did mention that they would like to see the slot changed on the lake. They gave their reasons for this and TPWD listened to this and everyone else comments on the issues at the meeting. I would doubt very seriously that anyone at this meeting convinced TPWD to do anything differently at Lake Fork. I think in the end that everyone left feeling that they had just lost 2 hours of their life that they would never get back.

Comparing Fork to RayBob at any stage of the game is like a corvette vs. a honda. Same with the local business structuring and accommodations.

Heard this from a guide that they were thinking about changing it to 14" to 22". NOT TRUE. Not only that, this is an incorrect derivative of an original (also incorrect) rumor. This is what happens when one person tells another person tells another person tells another person... - Person #1: "Bob sent an email to the White House asking whether they would consider banning chicken fried steak." - Person #2: "I heard the White House is going to ban chicken fried steak." - Person #3: "Better load your freezers with chicken fried steak. I heard there's gonna' be a shortage."

Not sure this is a good example but in wildlife there is carrying capacity where an area can carry an adequate number of wildlife given the adequate food source for that area. They may want to do the same for lowering the slot, i'm sure there are lots of fish over and under the slot taken from the lake that most people never hear about or not enough fish taken from the lake . They are not coming on the TFF telling everyone they caught a 10'lber and took it home to eat or hang on the wall only to be bashed as why would they do that and not release it.
One reason other than lake has peaked on big fish or inadequate food supply is off balance that some feel more fish may need to be taken out of the lake to balance the carrying capacity, and give the bigger fish a better chance of growing bigger and not having to compete for food supply maybe because the lake is over populated with species of different types of fish being bass, perch, catfish etc..
I would think that we all have our reasons on why we think this should be done or that should be done and we all want the fisheries we fish to produce bigger and/or more bass, but remember a fisheries can only support what is given to the species in its carrying capacity and an over or under populations of any species probably may or may not be a good thing in the long term
Mother nature seems to take care of her world for the most part and sometimes we think we need to help her out.

Like to see the slot 18-24. Most go back in the water anyway. Win win.

New regs are already out so if its being considered its still at least a year away. I doubt they fool with it at all. The guide told about 150 people he had attended a meeting with the powers to be and this is in consideration . I believe you are referring to the meeting between the Fork guides and the Texas P&WL that occurred a few weeks ago. The meeting covered a lot of topics but I figure one of the guides will speak up if they want you to have the info.
