A well-justified smile vanboom.
So many folks do not realize that fly fishing is not some snooty deal practiced by people smoking pipes and wearing tweed pants and ties. Its the oldest form of pole and line fishing there is.
Heck, there really weren't any bait-casting reels and spinning reels until fairly recently. Our lovely segment of fishing got hijacked by folks with "airs" and now the general public looks at anyone who fly fishes as a trout only snob.
When I hit the Gulf and its blowing 30-40 mph I believe I'll get a bait-caster and toss plugs at reds (when I get to go). Flatheads deep and eating shad, I'll get a Wally Word humongous spinning rig and cut bait. All great stuff.
But hooking into a three pound bass on a two weight rod; priceless!
