I have put my Christmas wish list in (to myself) and will be upgrading my electronics. I have used a Humminbird 998ci for a while but am finally going to a larger screen. At the prices they are I do not want to regret the purchase I make. Here are my two choices:
1. Lorwance HDS-10 / 2399.00
2. Humminbird 1199 CI / 2299.00
I am looking for info on product dependability, ease of use and product support. Have read pros and cons already on Bass Pro site. I am looking for input from you guys.
Thanks

I was going to say the same thing. Shut Up and Fish is the way to go when buying new electronics. Best guy and best prices bar none.
On the other hand I am a true Lowrance fan. With the prices you quoted I would say take a look at the Lowrance touch screen units as well. They are the most user friendly devices I have ever seen. I have three on my boat. I took a friend for a demo on Lowrance a few weeks back that has been with Humminbird for over 10 years and he is switching to Lowrance touch screen now.
You would not be disappointed with that unit.

I know you will get a lot of personal preference with this, and I do run Humminbird, so probably a little biased as well, but 1 good thing about going with the 1199 is that you can move the 998 to the front and link the units together.
