Was on a buddies sailboat in clearlake tx just floating around with the family when I decided to throw the line out "chopped mullet" for bait. After about 10 min my line begins to drag so I set the hook, well this beast is really getting it, no signs of it letting me pull it up. I have been fishing off and on for years and the only fish that ever pulled this hard was offshore amberjack, red snapper tuna etc. So after 20 min chasing this beast around the lake he was showing no signs of tiring out so we continued and just as was about 5ft from the boat it gave me one last pull and this time he went under the boat and SNAP! Worst feeling ever! The line busted I'm guessing the corral from under the boat cut the line. Well my question here is what could that have possibly have been? Never really fished that area so not sure what it could have been, any body know of anybody catching something that big in the this lake? It' was in the middle of the lake behind Cabo's bar and grill Btw I was using 20lbs test line

If you were using mono it was probably a large stingray or even a big black drum. Could have been a jack crevalle. I highly doubt shark because you fought it a while.
