Late Saturday morning, I was walking my dogs on the ever growing shore line of Ray Hubbard in Rowlett near 190 toll road. On our walk back a Game Warden was sitting in his truck near the water. It got me to thinking the only time I've seen G.W. on Hubbard was when there was a fatality or some one missing. I have spent many days on the lake and have never been checked by G.W. in my 35yrs using the lake. I have seen him on Rowlett creek checking fishermen but never on the lake. I have been checked on every lake I've spent much time on except L.R.H. Was curious what TFF'ers experiences have been regarding GW checks. Tight lines and pray for rain!

Lots of ppl fish that area and I imagine something illegal is going on. I've seen the cast net crew down there the last few weeks. They keep everything- Consuing the resources like a disgusting cockroach.

It was just me and my dogs. No one else in sight. He sat there for 20 minutes, maybe he was getting in a power nap. My point was you never see them at Hubbard. Have you ever seen them or been checked on Hubbard?

I do not know about today, but years ago the lake was patrolled by the police boats instead of TPWD. They cruised the lake in big gray boats and checked a lot of people.
My dad and I were fishing one night and the lake was rough. One of the lake patrol boats came up to us at full throttle and almost swamped my little boat. The guy yelled "Show me two life preservers." I said "We are wearing them."
None of those lake patrol persons were the brightest bulbs in the case. I do not ever remember seeing a real game warden.

They use to come in the Harbor Bay Marina barge during the spring crappie season. I have been checked and have witnessed tickets being written to some for no license and under sized fish. Also have seen them sitting under the bridge next to Bass Pro on jet skies when I was white bass fishing in a boat and writing tickets to the boaters that speed through the no wake zone.

Last time I was out there was a hispanic guy using a throw net all around party cove island. everything he caught he threw on the bank. When he was done he put em on a stringer and waded back across to the rocks and left.

About two months ago, I got checked within 5 min of being on the water. Saw the same GW three other times that evening. They kept asking me about some guy on a jetski running around drunk... They finally caught him in Harbor Bay. They were loading there boat at the same time I was about to load and I noticed that they had a tail light out on their trailer. I told him and he just shrugged it off like he didn't have to abide by the same laws we do. I can assure you if he saw someone else with a tail light out, they would have given them a warning or ticket. I think they spend most of their time checking pleasure boaters and jet ski's, which is fine by me.

I was sitting on the railing of the submerged (not at the time) bridge south of 66 on my 17th bday when one showed up. I totally forgot that I had to buy a license that day. We had this little plastic boat and had paddled out there. I tried to explain to him that I just forgot and would walk up to the store and buy one right then. He just said that we were lucky that he did not write us up for PFDs. I guess technically he could not because we were not in the boat. I have not seen on since and that was in 1973.

Been hitting up LRH since 1999 been checked twice. One time I went up the creek toward lavon he stopped me and said I shouldn't be up there in my boat. Second time we went after work and one of my friends didn't have a fishing liscenc. We got my friend out a ticket by joking with the warden and telling him we would go ahead and head home.

I was trout fishing below Canyon Lake with my family and there was a group 4 other people fishing, two had the whole trout getup with vest, waders ect and the others not so much. They had between them 12-13 trout on the stringers (5 per limit). Anyways there are stairs from parking lot to the river and the GW was walking down and the two in waders walked a bit downstream lit up a smoke and chatted a bit. Then the GW called to them and went to check the stuff. Turns out 2 of group did not have licences. The guy in waders had to strip them off and I believe gave all his stuff to the GW along with one person on the bank. They had to release 2 of trout or the ones with licences would have also faced fines for having more than the daily limit of 5.

I've been fishing since 1944, and I've never been checked - anywhere.
