Gave up deer huntin' with the warm weather. Thought maybe 'crappie huntin' would be a bit more rewarding. It was, Saturday. Good bite on Caddo downstream from the 43 bridge. So we went back for more Sunday morning. Made a run from the St. Park ramp, fished a while and decided to move. The engine started, made a NASTY thump, thump, thump then died. When I tried to start it again all I got was CLUNK as the starter engaged. After a long tow back to the SP, (THANK YOU WHOEVER YOU ARE!!), we retrieved the boat and headed home. I tried to move the flywheel by hand, no luck. Won't budge. I'm thinking rod or crank, maybe siezed piston? OB is a 1990 115 Evinrude.

Sad in East Tx. frown

JTEX.

Do what Opti said. I had my Merc making the same kind of noises and it turned out the lower unit was trashed. Much cheaper than a powerhead.

Thanks guys! Soon as this cold spell passes I'll break out the manual and get to work. That would sure be a relief if that's the case. smile
