come on guys, this is texas. we fish for bass,stripers,crappie catfish, ect. most of use casting or spinning equipment. why is the opening picture that of a fly fisherman?

I fly fished on Fork for some nice bass and a 6lb bowfin. The bass on Fork must never had see a fly before! It is fun.

This is the Texas Fishing Forum and the last time I checked, fishing with flies was definitely a form of fishing! We also used to think that carp were trash fish, but we now have a group of folks going after them with the passion a lot of have for Bass, even more so than some bassfishermen.

Send JP a quality photo and you never know it might show up on the cover page (you never know! it could be a bonified redneck grabbing for catfish in the Wasita River in Oklahoma next time!)

I was born and raised in Texas, and have done alot of fly fishing on Texas Lakes and Rivers.

All this time I thought a Fly was some kind of fish you could catch.

That's Me on the cover fishing Lake Somerville for bass.. I flyfish because it's fun to make your own rods and flys and then catch something with them It doesn't work better or catch more fish but I got bored with conventional gear long ago and started looking for something more and now I'm hooked.

Well there have been all kinds of anglers featured on the front page. That is the first time in all these years that there has been a fly fisher featured.

Kinda like having a bow hunter on the front page of a hunting mag. Its not better or worse or more or less moral/holy; its just another way to fish.

Yessir! We'd fly fish for Tarpon in the surf at Government cut (Miami Beach @ south beach) from a dory with a 14 to 16 ft calcutta pole, wet slow taper line, and an Ocean City! Tied our own with gull feathers and 10/0's. Closest I ever came to committing unintentional suicide!
