I voted

I use to be a smoker Lee and wanted to stop oh so bad but everything I tried I failed at. It is a tough thing to overcome. Once the eCig started getting popular I gave it a try. It was like smoking hair spray. "not that I ever smoked hair spray" It was a learning curve but I was determined to quite smoking. I have been smoke free since December 28, 2010 and I feel much better, more energy, food that I never would eat tasted awesome and now I hit the gym 3-4 times a week. I owe it to the eCig. I have finally winged myself off of it after a little over a year. Still hit it every now and then as I enjoyed smoking.

There is life after quitting cigarettes. Not to mention that after I stopped I realized how bad it made me smell...."like an ashtray"

Please stop Lee. We want you around a while longer my friend.....

Went through 6 months chemo at age 20 and last treatment was 2 and a half years ago. Trust me when I say this... That first treatment brings it to reality and not worth it

Congratulations-BIG TIME for all of you who have 'made it'!!
It really IS a terrible habit, makes you just plain as David put it bluntly, stink like an ashtray. Clothes, hair, breath, your vehicle, house if you smoke there as well.
Those are the non-harmful effects.....should be enough
I carry spray cologne for my clothes, small bottle of mouthwash, spray the truck and house with Oust......shower especially washing hair to get it out (now I know why I don't have much hair left!) .....
Yep, I'm very conscious about the smell.....I won't even use the factory ashtrays in the cars...but, cheat on that. Have a 'cup holder ashtray with a lid' and keep the windows cracked or down.
I want to. LOTS of health problems but, so far - only so far, none related to respiratory or cancer (well, that's a lie - prostate cancer but cancer free now after the surgery).
I admire those of you who did and broke the habit!
One day, God willing.....
God Bless

BTW: Some really candid posts....good, perhaps will inspire and David, thanks pardner ... Lord, the video...now that was realistic! Smoking does or can KILL

I quite June 14 2005 when the doctor told me i had throat cancer. Try 39 radiation treatments and 7 weeks of cemo at the same time. All your teeth pulled, claspped lung from a needle stuck in your lung to see if the spot on a x-ray was cancer also thank God it was not and 100 hyperbaric treatments,a feeding tube so you can live on 6 cans of ensure aday nothing else to eat for 3 months and i could go on. So please everyone stop smoking if you can. I have because i could go on with more things that have happen to me because i smoked from age 18 to 46. Thank God cancer free 9 years now i look at life differant i thank God every day he lets me wake up able to go fishing every so often. If any one else is going thru this and needs to talk feel free to send me a message i would be glade to help you in any way i can.

I smoke more on the water. Gives me something to do while I try and figure out what I am doing wrong or why I keep trying

that is my first question in a draw tournament and I don't know the person's habit...it goes like this... " do you smoke ?"...if yes next question..." can you go 8 hours without smoking ?"...if the answer is no then off to the tournament director we go...most guy's and tournament directors will understand and over the past 25 years a swap has been made... in instances where TD tells the dude to deal with it he then trys to bum a can of snuff or a pack of gum from someone...LOL...I have caved in the past and I've had carpet burned on two prior boats from falling cherrys in the wind and "I'm sorry" doesn't fix the burn or make it all better...just sayn...funny thing is all of the guy's are still alive at the end of they day and didn't die from not smoking and some comment wow I went all day without a smoke...lol

Started in my teens, close to 51 now. Trying to cut back an get it in my head to stop.
It's time, but not going to be easy.
Not trading off for an e-cig either, to me that's jumping out of the skillet and right in the fire!

Y'all have a great day!

Smoked for 40 years and quit many times over. Finally quit 21 years ago for good when I couldn't get my breath to finish the sex act. When you get down to sex or cigs, it's a no-brainer. Would be dead now if I hadn't quit then!

Smoked for 15 years, turned 30 and quit last October 4th, I moved into dipping pouches that I am in the process of trying to kick. Cancer for me was not the motivation, every man in my family for the last three generations have died of some form of cancer, I'm pretty sure I'm getting it one war or another. I have always had asthma as a young boy and I think my lungs were telling me something, I quit smoking because I was wheezing and having trouble breathing. I'm now wanting to quit dipping for my teeth. (I like white teeth, so do the ladies lol)

One thing that has not been mentioned yet is that when you handle your plastic baits, the nicotine from your fingers gets transferred to it and affects the strike appeal. Same with having a lit cigarette and the second-hand smoke gets on the bait as well. I smoke with my left hand and try to only handle the bait with my right, but if I have the reset the hook or remove grass...there you go. Thats why I probably don't catch as many fish as I could. GOOD REASON TO QUIT!!!

"If you've quit learn'n, you might'as well quit fish'n cuz yer not catch'n as many fish as ya should be!"
