I've been getting reports of a hot tilapia bite down there. I've never targeted them, but thought I'd give it a shot this weekend. Anybody got advice on what part of the lake to concentrate my efforts? Baits or lures to use? I'm pretty familiar with the lake from catfishing, but I'm sure that's a whole different game. _
Proverbs 11:1 The fisherman's verse ------------- "Chance is always powerful. Let your hook be always cast; in the pool where you least expect it, there will be a fish." Ovid (43BC-17AD) John

I've caught them in ponds on crappie jigs under bobbers.
The ones I were catching are protecting beds, so it's more that I was annoying them rather then them eating what I was presenting.

small jig tipped with a night crawler, or a simple spit shot and hook setup with a night crawler. Throw it out and real in slow. Make sure you keep your eye on the water. Lots of follows. If you see one follow, drop it down. It should pick it up. Also, had several doubles today. Would reel one in and another one would follow. Partner would throw in and catch number two while I netted number one. Had fun today. First time tilapia fishing.
It wasn't fast and furious, but we put 20 nice fish in the boat from 8 am to 2 pm. 8 of the 20 were in that 15 inch range. Nice fillets.

Do you have to get a reservation for Suaw Creek and hefty launch fee?

Honey Hole All Outdoors did an episode on this that aired this morning (Sunday). They'll post a link to the online version on the Bass forum later today or you can Google it.
