That's what happens when foreigners get ahold of a restaurant and buy cheap food thinking it's the same and people won't notice. Same deal with Massey's and now it's outta business

Skeet's texas grill has good CFS in Abilene, Merkel, or Sweetwater. Also Big O's in Valera has a good CFS

Alfredos in Forney has a great chicken fried steak. $7.49.

For most of the metroplex, a close place to go is your neighborhood cotton patch.

Yeah, I've never understood why people take over a long time successful restaurant and change the food, as if the people who have been coming there for 35 yrs won't notice the difference. I've seen it happen several times over the years and can't recall any that had long term success. As stated above, Massey's & Arlington Steakhouse are prime examples. Arlington SH got so many complaints about doing away with their "yellow" gravy they brought it back. Only one problem - The new yellow gravy ain't nothing like the original. I'll not be going there again.

The best I have ever had came from right here in Somerville, from a place called Mama's Kitchen. I eat there once a month and its really good.. Just my 2 pennys tho..

The Country Inn in Somerville had the best chicken-fried steaks back in the 1980s and 1990s.

That's a surprise, the food at the Babes in Granbury is some of the worst I have tried. Not very good food and over priced to boot. The best CFS in Granbury is surprisingly at the Cotton Patch.

I agree with you on Cotton Patch caf�. They opened one up not to far from me and they have a surprisingly good Chicken Fried Steak. We usually hit them on a Monday when they have the CFS special for $6.99. (not saying they're anywhere close to the best I've had, but they do have a very decent CFS for a chain)

Best CFS in all my travels is found at Wright's Steak House Del Rio
