The water is blue green with south winds with finger mullets. The water was so still with no birds. No macks and no mangroves. There was a school of slot reds at the 90 marker that took live shrimps and live mullet. A few fishermen went home with their limit of reds. I went home with no fish as I was targeting macks and big mangroves at the end. Had 3 rod benders but ended with cut 60 lbs florou leader with live mullet on a Carolina rig. I don't know if they were macks as there were no bites when I threw spoons.

Ran out there today early around 830 and then ran back to south bay. Got our limit of reds and one nice trout in 2 hours. It was alittle windy but still nice out.

Hate this rain and the NE winds, messing up jetty fishing.

The mullet run was in full effect yesterday. Basically a sea of mullet along both sides of the jetty. I can't say the fishing was red hot but it didn't seem too bad. I was surprised by the lack of red fish, I was out there all morning and only saw 2, good size though. I managed a couple of barely legal spanish mackerals, on sabiki rigs of all things. live shrimp was a waste of money for me. Also, saw a nice king and spanish come from the end of the jetty.

The finger mullets are here now and with the cold front the spanish macks are coming down followed by the king macks who chases these. Sabiki for sure will catch small macks but throw and reel fast a shiny spoon (gold when cloudy and silver when clear and sunny) and for sure you will have fun time with those fast runners. The Mangroves are here too but they are the huge ones and are biting only live finger mullets. Saw some groupers pulled in too, these shows schools of mangroves are here since mangroves and groupers tend to coexist and cohabit together.

Was at the jetty this am and there were a long line of fishermen waiting for king mackerel but they were no show today. There were a few Spanish mackerel too. Surprisingly though, the mullets were no where to be found. Some red drums were caught at the 90 marker feeding on shiners and anchovies. Huge skip jacks were mixed in with Spanish mackerel and it was fun catching them even if they are just a nuisance as they are not good table fare.

Have heard the jetty is teeming with Spanish macks, but the mangoes are still no where to be found.

Are there still thousands of mullet out there? I'm on the other side of the country curing the beautiful conditions the gulf coast has had all week.
