Both in unison would be best. Neither are worth the money if you leave your rods on the boat and dont take them in the hotel room with you! Im an authorized dealer for Truck Vault. If interested, www.tightlinespft.com. 254.690.3474

I would like to hear some input on this as well. My 04 ZX250 has all the lid locks removed when boat was recarpeted and Skeeter discontinued the locks. So. The Loc R Bar is a good option but the back compartments are still available for someone to reach in and take $600 worth of batteries...I take my rods out at hotel but stopping to eat or grab something in a store leaves my stuff unprotected. And my 8' rods won't fit in my truck bed.

I'm not aware of any commercial anti-theft/security system (short of very expensive custom made units) that is anything more than a deterrent to thieves, there isn't a safety device on the retail market for a boat locker that cant be bypassed if someone wants your stuff bad enough. The simple key is to bring everything in that you wouldn't want to get stolen......Period. It may not be the easiest or most convenient way of securing your valuables, but it sure is the most reliable. IMO putting on a locker bar is like placing a sign that reads "I've got a bunch of expensive stuff in these compartments, come and take them if you can".

If it were me, I'd go with the Loc-R-Bar. If they want in bad enough they'll get in. All you can do is slow them down enough that someone elses looks easier. If you can't park it in a safe area then they'll bypass either one. I've seen them break into something with an alarm because it is a smash and grab. They get in and out before the alarm attracts the owner. With the bar, the breaking in might take a bit longer and would be a good deterrent for the quick stop at the store when you can't remove your things.

I have a loc-r-bar and love it. Do the locker bar and a cheap baby monitor and your good to go. If I was stealing stuff from a bass boat I am bypassing the boat that's hard to get into.

I have used them all. - Loc-r-bar is good for quick stops for stores and eating places. Not so good for the motel. They will just use a saber saw and cut a chunk out of both sides of the boat and get in there. It only takes one minute. - Baby monitor keeps you awake all night. You will hear every car and hwy. noise all night; even the wind blowing the tarp. Not good, keeps you busy getting in and out of bed all night checking on the boat. Everything sounds like a possible theft. - Custom system with mobile phone contact with cameras takes pictures and moves them to your phone. Up and down checking the phone all night.
** This is the best I have found. I do not have one but there are several companies to choose from. This is a custom alarm on each lid and motion sensors on boat and truck. It is a remote control unit that can be reset from your room each time it goes off. If someone even touches the truck or steps up on the boat it goes off. The alarm will turn them away fast. You cannot use your tarp with this type unit it is so sensitive. Any movement sets it off and sends a silent alarm to the remote control or blasting alarm on the truck and boat. Just check and reset from the motel room. Cost around $600 for total package.

I have the 2-way boat alarm. It works pretty good but the siren went out on the first one in about 6 months. Instead of just sending me a $5 siren I had to remove the whole system (which is pretty easy) and return it all to BPS. That was a pain. If I can park right in front of my hotel room I could set the alarm sensitive enough where even brushing up against the boat would set it off. Then I could step out of my hotel with a Benelli M4 and handle the situation nicely. Theft at Night in TX = deadly force is permitted

My issue with the Saber saw is that's it's extremely loud. Also you would have to have a LONG blade to get to the bottom curvature of the inside glass where the bracket of the loc r bar mounts.
Easier would be bolt cutters and take lock off BUT LOC R BAR sells a sensitive lock that has a siren built in. I use two locks for a sense of security.
