Hello, after a few days of reading fourms I have decide to buy a few of the 13 fishing black omen rods. I am considering a 7'3" MH, 7'1" MH, for jigs of all sizes and pitching wood and docks. I noticed that the lure weight rating on these rods start off at 3/8oz and I love pitching a 3/16-1/4oz weight with a 3" strike king rodent as a Confidence bait. Will this set up be to light for the rods mentioned or should I consider the medium power 7'1" and if so will that rod have the "back bone" to be used as a light pitching rod. Thanks

Might be ok with the 7'1" MH, I have one and it feels kind of on the lite side for a MH. I haven't flipped or pitched with it yet, but it casts weightless senkos alright, sometimes I have issues but I think its because I have 12lb line on my Revo while I've been lowering most my other reels to 8lb. I don't know if its the best rod for your needs but you can't beat them for $70.

By the time you add a bait to a 1/4oz jig you are over 3/8. Just as important to consider is the line. If you plan to use light line go with a medium. You will break off more using light line and a MH.
I use a 6'10" medium for light jigs around docks using 8 or 10 lb. I use a MH 7'1" with 12 or 15 lb for heavier jigs or t-rig.
I use a 7'1" medium for small crankbaits using 12 or 15 lb.

Cool deal, going to gander to check the out tomorrow, I am going to grab a 7'1" MH and 7'3" MH paired with quantum smokes so hopefully this will provide a well balanced light weight setup

Darn I would say check out Joe's Sporting Goods online for the $70 price but it looks like they bumped their price up to where everyone else's are. Few months ago when I was looking to get one. Everywhere at the time was back ordered till Dec. all but Joe's and some other online retailer. The other retailer had theirs at 170 (I guess because of supply and demand) while Joe's was 70. Now I kind of wish I had picked up a 7'3 H too while they were 70.

You sure the $170 one wasn't an 13 Omen Envy?

it could of been the envy rods, but what happened was I did a search for the omen blacks and was looking at the online shops and when I clicked on that one and it said $170 so I said fudge that and backed out. haha
