I would like to see some tournament directors put their imput on this. Everyone should read the rules before any tournament and ask questions if needed. Your numbers would be incorrect. it would be a 25 yd area if down and 50 yd area if up and anchored. Most of the rules read like that.

Not 160 yds.Respect should come first under any condition.

So the lures can be in the same area. But not within 50 yards of the boats?? Your saying the lure is fishing not the boat so what are you saying ???? Now I'm confused, your gonna have all the kids lined up at the directors table with videos of other boats if you don't clear it up. It will be madness. Lol

Basically its is the way it reads. You have a 25 yd circle or a 50 yd circle around your boat. If a boat cast into those areas it would be a violation IMO. I may not be smarter than a 5 th grader but I understand that way.Course if the other fisherman say ok then you can.

If the rule says "no fishing within 25 yards of another boat", and fishing is defined as where your lure is, then the rule basically reads "no lures within 25 yards of another boat". Pretty self-explanatory.

I have on many occasions asked people to tie up to us that were not doing as good as we were and have been asked by others to do the same.

I was fishing by myself on Fork in the spring many-many years ago in Duck Call cove (I think that's the name)mouth of Birch Creek. In the very back on the right hand side the cove narrows where only one boat can really fish it. There was a small bush in the bater in this back area.

I cast to one side of the bush I caught a 4-11. A few casts later I cast to the other side of the bush and caught a 6-11. As I was releasing it I felt my boat bump like I bumped a stump. I looked up and here comes this spinner bait over my head. I looked back and a saw that the bump I felt was the bow of some guys boat had bumping into my big motor. The guy was casting over me and my boat!

Now that's TOO CLOSE! I said something to him and he said something like it's a public lake and he'll fish here if he wants. I almost got hot about it and decided it was not worth it. It was such a small area I doubt there were more fish there. I just got on the trolling motor and left.

Ride or Fish and Lee duel

grin

I usually just look at them and say "howdy" or "glad you showed up to show me how to catch them"

I try not to let others ruin my day.

Rule also implies intention. If someone encroaches on you and u do not say anything. Can that person be disqualified? 25yd is pretty close, talking distance. And ur allowed to fish next to a competitor if he lets u.

If an angler is fishing one direction could your boat be 25 yds away. If ur not casting towards each other. That could be interpreted into the rules of how far from ur lure.

Honestly its not an enforceable issue. I have never heard of a td disqualifying someone for encroaching on another angler.

You know, in that situation, some guys have been known to crank the big motor and "blow out" the hole.

Yep.

Actually I would say if the guy who was there first casts toward you, and you cast toward him, and your baits hit the water within 10 yards of each other you need to back off.

I'm not a tournament fisherman so I like to stay about 75 yards away. On the other hand if you are a tournament fisherman and you pull up to an area that has some boats in it. If you leave to try another spot there may be just as many boats as first spot. You end up doing a lot of running around which will hurt you. Ive had some follow right behind me and we both caught fish.

If the fishing is good, stay right next to them for good luck.

If they are in a Skeeter I gladly welcome them , they need all the help they can get . We should always help those in need to keep the great sport of angling alive.

I don't a dog in this thread but I do have two cents worth.
Years ago I was fishing off the bank at Johnson Creek, Lake O'
the Pines. I had three lines in the water under floats about
25 to 30 yards off the bank. The tournament boats came under the
bridge like a long cho cho train, one boat tail gating the next
one, all casting to the bank. The first few ran around my lines.
Then some idiot decided that was taking up too much water and
ran right through my lines dragging along. I cut them before I
lost all three rigs and then laughed my A$$ off when the idiots
trolling motor got the cut lines and floats all tangled up in his
trolling motor.
That idiot started cussing me out cause he got tangled up. I have
never done any tournament fishing nor ever expect to. It is a bit
frustrating getting cussed out by a tournament boat for screwing
up my lines.
That's all I wanted to say.

I think it has a lot to do with where you are fishing. In a big open east Texas lake like LOP, Fork, etc., I like sight fisher's rule, but if you are fishing a water discharge at a power plant lake obviously you going to have to fish closer to one another........
