At least they are throwing them back. Could just eat them. You missed the point, I'm all for eating a legal fish... just treating small ones like [censored] bothers me...

Gently slide them into the grease... That sounds good... As I said before I'm not a treehugger I'm just a Sportsman and the fish big or small should be treated with respect

I had a guide on Alan Henry that punted one like a football back into the water. That makes him an A$$ Hole

Actually, no it's not my bedtime. The OP was only stating his opinion, I'm sure it is discouraging to him to get backlash for an opinion, instead of getting kind and constructive opinions back. There are a lot of young fisherman like me that browse this forum, and a lot of the arguing I see on this forum is certainly not setting a good example. Thanks, I'm ok nothing anyone says will change my opinion on this matter. Ive been hunting and fishing for close to 50 years and if you treat fish or any game like [censored] then your not a very good sportsman. And as someone that's been around for just under 50 years you get to meet way to many of these folks....

I know what you are saying CADD. What I've seen people do to fish that they didn't want to catch, is stupid. I've seen too many people treat them like their play toys. Let them see you do it to a trophy bass that they want to come back and catch and they'd be crying murder. I think that if I had a guide drop kick one, I would probably give him a boot into the water.

Someday you may have to give one a little toss... if you are fishing the thickest vegetation, and rippin em out of it, you might need to give em a little toss just to get em back into the water where they were caught... I got one out of some pads the other day, and couldn't even get it to a spot where it could swim away without giving it a toss. It would have been worse to try to hold it out of the water till I could get it in any other way.
that being said, no sense in treating em like dirt for no reason... they were nice enough to bite your lure, so might as well treat em with respect.

Usually when a thread starts out with a rant the OP gets ragged on and arguments tend to start that way... People don't like complaining.

There are a lot of young fisherman like me that browse this forum, and a lot of the arguing I see on this forum is certainly not setting a good example. It's the real world in here, kiddo. This is life. If you state an opinion, be ready to defend your position because there are plenty of people that are going to disagree with you. I'll turn this back on you - you're basically saying keep my opinion to myself if I don't agree with someone. How come they get to voice there opinion in the first place if I can't express mine? ... they were nice enough to bite your lure, so might as well treat em with respect. Gotta admit, this made me LOL. Guess we should start telling them "Thank You for biting" as I ease them in the water!

Its not the real world here, its the fishing forum where everyone's opinion is the right one and you are wrong for questioning it....

This is great I've got a fairly genuine question for OP. Are your allegiances only to bass? Because I've punted my share of sandbass back into the water with very little regret

Best question yet. Are you speaking about the little male that's on a bed with a female? Hahaha cause we want him GONE!! Those little males are the ones protecting big mammas fry from the debil blue gill. I'll admit I fish a c&r only pond now and again that desperately needs culling, kind of fun to see how far a man can launch a dink on a hookset flipping shallow reeds

what about catfish? I usually grab a pair of pliers, grab the hook with em and shake that sumbuck senseless til it falls off unless it falls in the boats by accident then I kick it so it doesn't slime up my boat!
