Anybody know what they are doing to it? They drained it about a month ago and looks like they are working on the dam. Its on private property but i thought maybe someone here might know something. Its on the north side of 287 as you are going into Midlothian.

I was wondering the same thing!

I didn't knw it was as shallow as it is. Use to have some pretty good bass in it!

That lake has been there since I was a kid back in the early/mid 50's(I was born in '53)and was living in Waxahachie. When I was about 5-6 I remember seeing people fishing it but never knew if it was a good fishing spot.(at that age there were priorities much higher up the list than fishing, like "Are we there yet?") LOL

I drive past there everyday. Its crazy not seeing any water in there anymore. Also heard there was monster crappie in that lake.

I was told it was built by WPA or CCC in 1930s. I have fished in it a few times in the 1980s. Many people call it Texas Lake. Generally has that shape when full. Caught fish but nothing to brag about.

I lived there from 2004-2006. My father and his two business partners owned it then. Living there was quite a culture shock at first because I had moved from San Diego, CA. Eventually, I came to love the Texas country life. People used to come to our gate on Saturday mornings and pay five dollars a head to fish for the day. I'd often sit with them and listen to their stories.

Yes, there were crappie, but like the other gentleman said, nothing to brag about. I had a buddy catch a big ole' bass in a pond nearby once though. The abandoned golf course adjacent also had some weird sort of shellfish in its waters, like large clams. We sold the land to Hal Thorne in 2006. I believe he sold it not long after.
