Is the tough fishing across the state effecting boat sales? I'm asking 10k under the value of my Cat and can't so much get a nibble. Has anyone one else selling a boat noticed the same trend?

Time of year. Property taxes coming up. You'll have better luck after the first of the year.

Nearing winter time .... best time to buy, worst time to sell. I'm trying to sell one myself but this time i'm not desperate so it will sit until the selling gets good.

Don't think it's the fishing or water levels. Time of year coupled with high cost of a quality bass boat.

Low water levels. Looks to be nearing the end of a seven year bull market cycle.
The manufacturers have reached and surpassed the ceiling on what people are willing to pay.

Yes this is the worst time to sell a boat, but the best time to buy one. There are a lot of deals on last years new models and the pros are getting rid of their boats to make room for the new ones. I just sold my 2006 Nitro and had to give in to the guy because I did not want him to leave the garage and go to next boat. First and far most you have to advertise with as many pictures as possible and capabilities of how the boat performs. Put in on Craigslist, and Bassboat Central. I guy drove from south Louisiana to Dallas to look at three boats and I was determined that he left with mine; that being said we haggled until we found a price where everyone could be satisfied. Before you post pics, have it detailed by a professional, it makes a huge difference when your rigs is being compared to others. It also shows you are not trying to hide any scratches or dings. Last but not least, how much is a boat worth, whatever someone is willing to pay for it; make it stand out against the competition. Feel free to look at how I advertised mine on TFF and on Craigslist http://texasfishingforum.com/forums/ubbthreads.php/topics/10200295/1Good luck on the sale.

I also wonder if the market has hit a wall. Meaning that most people that want bass boats now have them and since they are built better in recent years they last longer, etc. And most people who want to upgrade have to sell what they have first and then it becomes a game of cat and mouse. I bought a boat last November for around $14k, I would like to upgrade in the next few years but I bet selling the boat I have will be harder than I think. Because most people that want another boat are going to be looking for more than what I am trying to sell and entry level boaters may not want to spend quite that much.

I also wonder if the marketUSA has hit a wall. I fixed it for ya! Based on Obama's Approval Rating, Ebola Scare, Stock Market Plunders......I got my sneaky feeling why people are scared to buy now. Only thing going for a boat sale is the price of gas....but my boat still has $3.75 gas in it from this summer.

The stock market acting the way it has the past couple of weeks is gonna make some guys think twice about spending serious money on any toys. Its been brutal.
