Mom and dad just bought a ranch 45 miles from Proctor so I was thinking that might as well fish it a little. Any tips or advice would be appreciated. Not sure how low it is or if it even accesible.

Thanks

Brandon

Very hard to get info on that lake these days. Not sure if no one is fishing it due to low water level or just being tight lipped with info. I fished the lake a ton back in the late 90's while attending Tarleton. We almost always got an easy limit+ on hybrids around the island using live shad. Back then shad was super easy to catch in almost any cove on the lake. There have been some fish kills on Proctor since my days fishing it so not sure if that is still the case. Proctor is pretty stilted in so don't expect to find huge depth changes on the lake. Use your electronics around the island to find the fish. Drift several spots around the island with live bait. My guess is you will find some fish there. Wish I had more up to date info to help you but old info is better than none I guess. Let us know if you find any fish.

Brandon the lake is low I fished it about 6 weeks ago and slaughtered them caught 100 fish in 4 hours put in at the ramp down past the corp. office cant remember the park name. Caught bait in front of the ramp that lake is full of bait and good bait. found fish in 12 feet of water on north east side of the island the deepest water I found was 15 feet.

Brandon, Proctor was a great hybrid lake 20 years ago but TP&W released whites some time back and alot of the hybrids are being removed thinking they are whites...aren't getting to grow to potential. I have actually looked at other's catches this summer and tried to do some educating. That being said, I pulled out a 29" hybrid in August but it was super skinny, weighed 8 lb.4 oz...the lake record is 16+ lbs @ 27.5" so the lake has potential. This was my 1st summer after a 20 year absence from Proctor and I didn't find the shad masses of old but it sounds like some did. I'm not a live bait guy so all my trolling/jigging didn't produce much. It would be nice to keep this chat going as I agree that the talk has been tight lipped. Any help would be appreciated.

I was told by TPWD whites have not been stocked in Proctor but that some one illegally introduced whites to lake Leon upstream and they were washed downstream. They were very very opposed to the white's according to the official I talked with.
